Another quarter of the year has gone which means it’s time for another update! Hair. It’s the thing that grows on your head, that helps keep the heat in, that can add another dimension to a look. And when you lose it, voluntarily like me, you re-think what it means to you. You think about a lot of stuff really. In fact, you just realise that hair is more than just hair.
It’s been well over a year since I chose to go bald. I have hit the milestone of 1 whole year and 3 months. And I’m not bored of this whole healthy hair blogging thing. That’s a long time. But also really short in the context of me being on a journey to tailbone length hair. And yes, I am still aiming for that ridiculous and lofty goal. I’m expecting to get there by 2025, give or take a year. I’d be happy for it to happen at some point this millennia if I’m honest.
I hadn’t envisaged having to take out a braid to do my length check. I definitely hadn’t thought through the timing of installing my first set of braids either. I was a bit busy in November so this post is a little late. But November 1st 2017 marked 1 year since I shaved all my hair off and felt the cool winter breeze blowing over my scalp. I have to admit I miss those few days of baldy baddie life! It really was such a short time. I suppose I could just shave it all off again! Ideas…
I’m 75% of the way into my 1st year of my healthy hair journey and journey to tailbone length. Hair was measured on the 1st of the month and I can say with complete honesty that I was disappointed. I was at 8.5cm (3.3 inches) which means I had fallen short of the roughly 1 centimetre a month that I had been gaining faithfully up to this point. I know partly why this might be happening. My hair is getting longer which means it is more prone to knot leading to it needing a bit more detangling and manipulation. As…
It’s been a long day, there are bits in my hair, the bags under my eyes are full, my legs feel like lead, the kids have gone feral and I’ve still got a few hours of housework before bed BUT my hair is growing, no more cat fights for me because it’s long enough to grab now and I am grateful that it looks a bit of a mess because that means I have enough hair to be messy. This journey is going to be long but I see a very, very small light at the end of the tunnel.…
I came across the Inversion Method on Pinterest because people claiming they can grow their hair 1 inch in 1 week is pin worthy indeed. And yes, that is what they claim. Obviously you can’t verify the timeframe of people’s before and after. But as there doesn’t seem to be a wonder product that’s being advertised, I can’t see why people would lie. Oh how gullible I am! I suppose it could be a conspiracy between all the hair oil companies in the world. However, I’ll try not to be too cynical. There are a lot more people out there…

I guess there is no going back now! I’m not sure why it has taken me a week to fully come to that realisation but I’m here now. It’s all still looking a little bare up there but if I run my hand over my head there are short little hairs on every inch of my scalp. You can even see it from a distance. Not too far, maybe about 3 feet but there is definitely something there.
So it wasn’t all a really weird dream. I did take a razor to my head yesterday and shave all my hair off. Sh*t! To add insult to injury, today, I awoke to the first frost of the year. My cousin did say that I should probably wait to lop it all off until Spring. But stubborn me decided to stick to my arbitrary deadline and it is soooooo cold!
