#hairgoals

I know the perils of hair envy. I have hair envy especially with my hair being so short and where I am wanting it to go. You see all of these beautiful women (and men) with small Afros, medium-sized Afros and Quann Sister size Afros and I think these are all points on my own personal hair journey that I can’t wait to get to. I try to keep my outright jealousy mild envy in check by using these images and people as inspiration. My hair is my hair, it will never be their hair but it’s always nice to…

End Of The Bottle Review: Carol’s Daughter Hair Milk Cleansing Conditioner

One of the things I told myself when I started this blog and shaved all my hair off was to not to be afraid to use different products, to trial as much as I could and feed my curiosity. It’s a good thing that I enjoy it so much as I’m always excited to try something new and see how my hair or my kid’s hair reacts. The first use of this was a bit of a disaster. I put my littlest baby in the bath, opened the conditioner ready to go and put it on the radiator while the…

End Of Sachet Review: 7th Heaven Strawberry Souffle Face Mask

I will start by telling you that I had high hopes for this mask. It sounds great, Strawberry Souffle, yum. It makes you think of strawberries obviously (high in vitamin C, acidic so helpful with scars and great for tightening pores – see here for more) but the souffle part had me thinking I might have a cheeky little lick of my upper lip while it dried. I didn’t, I promise, because this is not food but it does smell good enough to eat. It has an extremely thick consistency, like cream cheess almost. This makes applying it very easy…

Let’s Join The Band!

I’ve been looking for ways to stretch our hair for less tangles and sleeker protective styles, well mostly my daughter’s hair anyway because she’s the one I get to play hairstyles on. I hardly have any hair to work with. My littlest son’s hair is too short to style so I’m not that bothered about his hair other than religious moisturising. Boy number 1 has fairly evenly defined curls naturally that I just tend to leave alone because he has zero patience. Every time I’m able to cornrow I literally have to do a happy dance because I never know…

Hair Today

I just picked my hair out for the first time. Thinking I might start chasing volume rather than length ? (ignore the stuff in my hair, I’m covered in coconut oil for my prepoo). Bring on the fro! Let’s keep growing together! xx Lee xx

Self Improvement

Time To Change

Just a quick post here. I was flipping through my Instagram and I realised that there was this increasing envy I was feeling as I scrolled through my feed. I was seeing pictures of people with their fancy cars, fancy makeup, fancy holidays, fancy jobs, fancy, fancy lives and the green-eyed monster was rearing her ugly head. I realised I wasn’t jealous of the material things that they had. I’m under no illusion, my feed is not filled with lottery winners and trust fund babies. Alot of these people are successful because they work hard, they hustle, they succeed. They…

End Of Bottle Review: Palmer’s Co-Wash Cleansing Conditioners

When I decided to buy my first co-wash I had no idea what I was doing. In the UK, you can’t just walk into your local supermarket and buy hair products specifically for black hair/ kinky hair. You might find curly hair products if you’re lucky and if you do, the selection is small. My usual place to buy products for hair, skin or beauty is Boots and they had none. My next choice was Superdrug and in store they had nothing.

Goodbye Woeful to FroFull, Hello Woeful Writes

You’ll now find all my fiction writing on Woeful Writes¬†because one blog isn’t enough for this gal. Actually, I’m a little overwhelmed with the idea of having to fill 2 blogs with content but hey ho, what else am I doing with my time. When I say “have to” I know I don’t have to but I feel like if I am taking up space on the web I might as well use it. What’s the point of an empty blog? The first few posts are being transplanted from blog posts I’ve already written here but brand new content will…

Song Of The Month – July 2017 – Ain’t It Fun by Paramore

LINK TO THE VIDEO I love Paramore. I am probably a little old for their projected demographic but even still, I love them. I love Hayley Williams. I love that she was supposed to be the next Britney Spears but told the industry to duck off and became the kickass musical heroine I wish I could’ve looked up to when I was a teen. I love their songs, how catchy and clever they are. But something you may not associate with them as a non-fan is that they’re fun. Feisty, moody, loud and yes, fun. This song captures that, captures…
