Parenting Guilt

It’s an affliction. There is no decent parent out there that doesn’t feel guilt with every decision they make or don’t make. It’s not surprising. You’re tasked with bringing up a whole person as a decent, moral, non-s****y human being. In most instances, it was a choice you made but it’s still difficult, it’s fraught with missteps, mistakes and guilt. What if you’re doing the wrong thing? Have you just said something to them that is unwittingly traumatising and damaging them? To all the parents out there, for what my two cents is worth, as long as you’re trying, really…

End of Sachet Review: Montagne Jeunesse 7th Heaven Dead Sea Mud Pac Mask

I think if you’ve walked into any shop that sells face masks in the UK, you will have seen this brand. The packaging always has pictures of women with about a 2 inch thick layer of a glorious looking face mask which looks rich, thick and creamy. Now it never comes out like that on your face and it would be a bit ridiculous if it did but it would be nice if the package was the reality. Do you hear me McDonald’s? With your lies and deceit. It would be nice if the finished product matched the pictures. I…

The Scales…

So the other day I did my weekly weigh in. This has turned into a measurement of how well I can keep things the same as I haven’t really made any weight loss progress in a while. And I’m actually not that bothered right now but I know I should do something because I’m just getting older everyday and I’m stacking the odds against myself. Anyway, the other day I stood on the scale and it read 66.9kg. I’ve been up, down and around this weight for a few months now so I wasn’t surprised to see it. Nor was…

Progress Check – April 2017

We’re just over a third of the way into the year and I thought I should do a round-up of what I’ve been doing or not doing. I didn’t really have any New Year’s Resolutions other than building on what I had started with my big chop or big shave or giant mistake or whatever you want to call it and seeing where it would all take me. I’ve learnt a few things. I’ve needed to re-learn things. I’m learning that the learning isn’t going to stop soon! Especially since my memory is so poor. That’s when having a blog…

Song Of The Month – April 2017 – Gust Of Wind by Pharrell Williams

LINK TO THE VIDEO I love this song so much. I think it got a bit overshadowed by Happy and Get Lucky but honestly, I think it’s better. I have a habit, when I love a song, to play it on repeat. For hours at a time and this is one of those songs for me. I actually based a whole chapter of one of my stories around this song I like it so much. But if you don’t know this song, you should be ashamed of yourself! Or listen and get to know it… Follow me on YouTube to…

Her Curls

Apparently if you braid or plait your hair and it curls like this at the ends, it means it’s healthy. I’ve been snipping away at her ends a little bit every time I’ve braided them over the last few weeks and this week I styled her hair and the end of every plait curled perfectly. Scissors go bye-bye for a few more weeks now. It was definitely a very satisfying moment for me. I suppose I must be doing something right! I love her hair, I love the way it curls, I love the colour, the feel, everything. I’ve got…

End of Tube Review: Palmer’s Olive Oil Repleneshing Conditioner

The Palmer’s Olive Oil Replenishing Conditioner was one of my first purchases when I decided I was going to be serious about having a new attitude to my hair. I can’t remember exactly when I bought this but I know it was a few months before I shaved my head. I know this because I was itching to use it for at least a few months but I knew I should save it until I started the journey. Finally, after I let the razor loose, I used it for the first time. Now I can’t really give you my first…

FACE

Yeesh! That’s one hell of a close up of my face. Don’t mind my unkempt eyebrows. I’m possibly growing them out or I’m just lazy and I haven’t fixed them yet, I haven’t decided. Anyway, I was feeling quite anxious about how to start this post and how to represent the problems I feel that I have. So to illustrate it to you I have to show you something that causes me daily angst. My face. My make-up free, whole screen, no filter face. I do posts pics with no make-up on but damn that is close up! They say…

My 1000 Word Project #5

So here goes practice number 5. I do not have a perfect marriage. Sometimes we argue, mostly bickering and usually very quickly moved on from. But I don’t see my life without my husband and when I think about it, I swear, sometimes it brings me to tears. But again, it’s not perfect. Nothing is. I hope that when people see us, they see a happy family, with flaws of course, but not people trying to project an unattainable level of happiness. Some people though, have lives that look perfect and it is far from that. What are they feeling?…

Song Of The Month – March 2017 – Video by India.Arie

LINK TO THE VIDEO I remember when this song came out and it was so different to everything else I was hearing. It was a positive message that, as an insecure teenager, I needed to hear. I just wish that once I put down my hairbrush microphone and left my bedroom I would have been able to put her lessons into practice. It’s only taken me until now to really understand what she means and that it’s ok to just be yourself! It’s hard, but it’s ok. Follow me on YouTube to watch the whole playlist. So here it goes,…
