Time To Change

Just a quick post here. I was flipping through my Instagram and I realised that there was this increasing envy I was feeling as I scrolled through my feed. I was seeing pictures of people with their fancy cars, fancy makeup, fancy holidays, fancy jobs, fancy, fancy lives and the green-eyed monster was rearing her ugly head. I realised I wasn’t jealous of the material things that they had. I’m under no illusion, my feed is not filled with lottery winners and trust fund babies. Alot of these people are successful because they work hard, they hustle, they succeed. They…

End Of Bottle Review: Palmer’s Co-Wash Cleansing Conditioners

When I decided to buy my first co-wash I had no idea what I was doing. In the UK, you can’t just walk into your local supermarket and buy hair products specifically for black hair/ kinky hair. You might find curly hair products if you’re lucky and if you do, the selection is small. My usual place to buy products for hair, skin or beauty is Boots and they had none. My next choice was Superdrug and in store they had nothing.

Goodbye Woeful to FroFull, Hello Woeful Writes

You’ll now find all my fiction writing on Woeful Writes because one blog isn’t enough for this gal. Actually, I’m a little overwhelmed with the idea of having to fill 2 blogs with content but hey ho, what else am I doing with my time. When I say “have to” I know I don’t have to but I feel like if I am taking up space on the web I might as well use it. What’s the point of an empty blog? The first few posts are being transplanted from blog posts I’ve already written here but brand new content will…

Song Of The Month – July 2017 – Ain’t It Fun by Paramore

LINK TO THE VIDEO I love Paramore. I am probably a little old for their projected demographic but even still, I love them. I love Hayley Williams. I love that she was supposed to be the next Britney Spears but told the industry to duck off and became the kickass musical heroine I wish I could’ve looked up to when I was a teen. I love their songs, how catchy and clever they are. But something you may not associate with them as a non-fan is that they’re fun. Feisty, moody, loud and yes, fun. This song captures that, captures…

Progress Check – June 2017

It’s that time of year for another little progress check. I suppose the first thing I need to say is that the hair is growing and I actually believe it. I think I spent the first few months of this journey in denial that anything was happening up top but I can see it, I believe it and I am starting to love it. I spent the last few months thinking that I would be my own natural hair meme and that the 5 in my pic above would be me on the fifth year hair anniversary sporting the same…

End Of Sachet Review: 7th Heaven Argan Oil Mud

So Sunday treat again. Face mask time!! This one had a bit of an odd smell to me. Maybe it was the Argan Oil but I wasn’t feeling it. It dried really quickly which was great because I wanted it off. It did tighten very quickly and I find that these creamy type masks do seem to do that, the ones from this range anyway. Argan Oil is great for softening skin and has a lot of Vitamin E in which is great for moisturising, I definitely need that. I have tried it in my hair but I don’t think…

End Of The Range Review: Flora & Curl

It’s possible you may not have heard of Flora & Curl but if you have a few curly ladies on your Instagram feed you may have seen them using this new British brand of beautifully handmade hair products to treat their curls and coils and it is such a treat! I can’t say I’ve been following them since day 1, I’ve only actually had my Instagram account since October of last year but I was there on product launch day with my debit card eagerly waiting to be able to buy some, proud to be what I hoped was the…

The Inversion Method Part 1 – Upside Down You’re Turning Me…

I came across the Inversion Method on Pinterest because people claiming they can grow their hair 1 inch in 1 week is pin worthy indeed. And yes, that is what they claim. Obviously you can’t verify the timeframe of people’s before and after. But as there doesn’t seem to be a wonder product that’s being advertised, I can’t see why people would lie. Oh how gullible I am! I suppose it could be a conspiracy between all the hair oil companies in the world. However, I’ll try not to be too cynical. There are a lot more people out there…

Song Of The Month – June 2017 – Pass Out by Tinie Tempah

LINK TO THE VIDEO This song reminds me of like four years worth of going out. It took a long time before DJs stopped playing this one. It’s one of those songs that everyone of a certain age knows all the words too. And when I say a certain age, I’m not talking old even. If it came on when I was out now (on the extremely rare occasion I go out), this is STILL my jam! I know I’m talking about this like it’s an ancient classic but I swear when I get old and frail and am stuck in…

My Hair Routine: Taking Notes

I work in admin so I think my immediate reaction to things that are new and detailed is to take notes. I think my reaction to pretty much anything is to take notes. I used to have bits of paper all over the place. Then I got a bit more organised and would frantically scribble in notebooks and then scribble out what I had achieved, leading to pages of text you couldn’t read as I’d crossed it all out. Then I noticed the notes section in my phone and had all my notes categorised on there. But these days, I…
