Braid Removal: A Pictorial

I can’t even remember when I actually had these particular braids in. But when I was looking through the blog for ideas I came across these photos saved in the gallery. So we are going to just go with that! My hair is currently in mini twists. It’s low maintenance and when I swish my head side to side, my hair comes with me. It’s a nice feeling that people with straight or loose curls most likely take for granted. I have the movement of box braids without the weight and hassle but then again I don’t have the length!…

Braid Lover: August 2019

I hope by now, from reading this blog or scrolling through my IG or Pinterest, that you understand that I am a braid lover. Completely head over heels! The brighter the better too! They’ve been such a part of my life since I was a child, from the tender age of 15, only one other person on one occasion has braided my hair for me. And I always feel more confident with those woven strands dangling down my back. I’ll love them even more, when all the length is my own!

I’m sure it’s been long enough. I was very proud of how it came it out but it wasn’t perfect. Nothing is and that’s okay. Because I’m not perfect or any type of model, there were a hell of a lot of pictures taken, trying to find “The One” (x30). I styled myself (obviously) and directed the shoot i.e. told my husband what to do while he ignored me and took all…

How I Got My Braids (Pt. 4)

The braids are in. You could be fooled into thinking your job is done. That’s what I used to think. But I know better now. You need to love your hair if your fro is out and free BUT also if it is tightly tucked away.

How I Got My Braids (Pt. 3)

So we’ve got Part 1 and Part 2 down and here we are starting to braid. I think a lot of the things I did before I started this healthy hair journey were just habit, bad habits at that. So getting ready for braids took no time at all in the old days. Now everything will be planned and there will be thought put into every step. Healthy hair is like having a house plant, you need to help it live. Don’t be the person with the dead orchid on your windowsill.
