Hair

Length Check: 2 Years And 3 Months

I’ve been at this hair journey for 27 months now. Twenty-Seven whole months! It feels like such a long time but it’s gone so fast, it feels like no time at all.

I’ve gone from just rocking my TWA because it was all I could do, to trying twists AND twist outs. Although, this particular twist out [pictured below]was me on my way to washing my hair (taking out week old twists).

I was shocked at the definition. My routine is super simple at the moment – water, oil, Shea Moisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil Strengthen & Restore Styling Lotion and currently co-washing with Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Restoring Conditioner. And it looks like I’m going grey, but it’s just fluff from my jumper. Promise!

I am excited for what my hair can achieve going forward, I am currently wearing a weird plaited, cornrowed, twisted, updo – there are no pictures. I have no idea how it actually looks from the back but all my hair is tucked away from the horrible, and I mean horrible winter. Polar vortex anyone? Ok, so I was like 4000 miles away but it was still cold where I was. And is still cold now. I hate winter!

From my last few posts, you might get the impression that I’m up for trying new stuff this year, well I am. My hair is that little bit longer, stronger and I am armed with more knowledge than I could have ever imagined (even though I am well aware I have a lot to learn). So I’ll try anything once, twice or several times until I get it right or get it better.

The Numbers

I’m not going to go on and on, so I’ll just get to the numbers *drum roll please*

My hair is…

19cm or just under 7.5 inches.

This means I am about 1/3 of the way to my goal of 60cm/ 24 inches (from my crown). I guess that isn’t too shabby.

The length may not be overwhelming but I am loving the volume. I was loving the feel of my hair after a week in twists and how moisturised it still felt. The proof is in the pudding with protective styles about whether they really do good. I truly felt the proof.

I am looking forward to loving my hair more and more as the year goes by!

Let’s keep growing together! Oh and Happy Valentine’s Day!

How’s your journey going? Are you hitting your goals? How are you coping if you’re not?
