My healthy, happy, clear skin journey started so well. I was cleansing, toning and moisturising like a pro. But I fell off that wagon a couple of years ago now. Now, I want to bring back my skincare routine, a basic one, but something a little bit more refined than what I’m doing. But only a little. I don’t have time for a 21 step Korean skincare regimen. We are keeping it simple over here!

I remember coming across Jim + Henry very early on in my healthy hair journey. I’m not sure when the other products were introduced to the brand but I clearly remember seeing Eight and thinking, wow! That’s the kind of hair care I aspire to own and use! And finally, in 2020, it’s mine…mwahahaha!

Four whole years. Four whole years. FOUR WHOLE YEARS. I could keep saying it but it still wouldn’t sound real. I’ve committed to something for four whole years. And I’m still enjoying it (on the most part). And I’m finding success (even though I’ve redefined what that is a few times). But whew, four whole years. Type 4 hair is no joke!

As you know, I’m having a moratorium on buying new products from November 2020 to the end of 2021. But I couldn’t go out without a couple of splurges from my September and October pay days. I am a product junkie after all! And by the way, ew, “splurges” is such a gross word!

Hopefully you’ve found yourself here from Part 1, if not, head on back! To recap, I like to mash up products that aren’t working for me. Or that I just want to get rid of but feel they need a little extra oomph from products I actually like. And that’s how I ended up mixing up these random things.

What is a product mashup? I hear you ask. Well, it’s what happens when I get bored. Basically when I don’t like a product, I won’t throw it away because I am my father’s daughter. I don’t know if it’s a Nigerian thing, a Dad thing or just how he is but he keeps everything. Broken things, things we don’t need, things we don’t want. I don’t like nuts unless they’re chocolate covered. I’m a woman of simple tastes. But I learnt very early on in my healthy hair journey that when it comes to oils and nuts, Almond (or more specifically, Sweet Almond) is a super oil. Also, apparently, Almonds aren’t actually nuts? Who knew?!
