Bucket List: Table For One

I may or may not have mentioned that I’m a procrastinator. A list maker. A thinker not a doer. But look at me getting my sh*t together and actually doing something from my bucket list. I did that! A table for one, dining alone, eating by myself. Check!

Family Question Time

I’m someone who generally keeps my cards close to my chest. There are people that have known me for years and as much as they may know my personality, I don’t know if they know me. That’s 100% down to me. I only let people in so much and carefully answer their questions. I’m trying to be more open but I don’t know if that’s working. In a way, that is what this blog and my other blog are for. However, I don’t really want to be a mystery to my kids, of all the people in the world. They…

Mum Alone: Extreme “Me Time”

Oh, what a time to be alone or at least that’s what all the cool kids are saying. I personally don’t have a lot of opportunity to have time alone being a wife, mother of three and full time employee. That’s not to say that I don’t get me time but it’s usually really late at night after the hubby has gone to bed. Or for a few minutes between when I get up and the children getting up. But I understand the importance of being alone, the benefits, the pros. The importance of the peace and quiet. Sometimes we…

Shouty McShoutyface

The picture is a bit over the top, I don’t ever get that angry but it was hard to properly convey the emotion without going to the extreme end of the spectrum. I am mostly a content person, I promise. However, I am on a personal quest not to shout so much at my kids. I find myself being super zen, nothing can trouble me, throw as much as you want, don’t eat your dinner, refuse to get your nappy changed, don’t brush your teeth, when they fall out, see if I care and I’m cool. Then the littlest thing…

Parenting Guilt

It’s an affliction. There is no decent parent out there that doesn’t feel guilt with every decision they make or don’t make. It’s not surprising. You’re tasked with bringing up a whole person as a decent, moral, non-s****y human being. In most instances, it was a choice you made but it’s still difficult, it’s fraught with missteps, mistakes and guilt. What if you’re doing the wrong thing? Have you just said something to them that is unwittingly traumatising and damaging them? To all the parents out there, for what my two cents is worth, as long as you’re trying, really…

A Forced Apology Is Better Than No Apology

My gorgeous son. My gorgeous-looks-like-butter-wouldn’t-melt-son. Well butter would melt, he’s a hot-headed little monster…at times. I love him but he can be a real handful. So he caused a scene while I was witnessing a scene, so I’ll get that first scene out of the way first. I was at the bank, one of the places that I loathe the most. It’s a completely irrational hate but it’s there nonetheless. I find it more manageable now that they have self-service machines, in fact, I love all shops more now that they do self-service. I was at the self-service (of course)…
