I remember when this song came out and it was so different to everything else I was hearing. It was a positive message that, as an insecure teenager, I needed to hear. I just wish that once I put down my hairbrush microphone and left my bedroom I would have been able to put her lessons into practice. It’s only taken me until now to really understand what she means and that it’s ok to just be yourself! It’s hard, but it’s ok.

Hands down one of my favorite songs by her 🙂 I am not my hair, break the shell and the little things are great too.
Brown Skin and pretty much everything on her first album!
yesss! have you listened to her most recent album?
I haven’t, I’m guessing it’s good though?
Yeah it’s pretty good, it came out in 2013. It definitely maintains the soulful vibes she normally gives off :).
