End Of The Range Review: Soap & Glory (Part 1)

A few days after starting the Soap & Glory product range in early July, I got ID’ed for a scratchcard…twice. I didn’t have my driving licence so I walked away from the till, embarrassed and robbed of my almost definite winning scratchcards. Needless to say I haven’t tried buying a card since but I attribute this recent change in how people view my age 100% down to this range of products…haha, not quite! But it’s quite the curious coincidence.

So I bought, and bear with me as the names are super long, the Total Drama Clean 5-in-1 “Magnetizing” Micellar Make Up Remover, Scrub Your Nose In It Special Pore Refining AHA Facial Scrub, Face Soap and Clarity 3-In-1 Daily Detox Vitamin C Facial Wash, Speed Plump All-Day Super Moisture Marvel, The Fab Pore 2-In-1 Facial Mask and Peel, Super Hydrating Speed Plump Overnight Miracle Moisture Mousse and the Make Yourself Youthful Rejuvenating Eye Cream. Now breathe!!

When I start using any range of products I make a bit of a bet with myself about what will be the first to go. I correctly pegged the Speed Plump Day Lotion as the quickest to go. To be fair though, it lasted a good 7-8 weeks. It is really moisturising, even my dry skin loved it. It claims to make your skin “tighter, brighter, firmer and smoother looking.”

Check, check, check, check.

Perhaps it’s the Watermelonfruit Complex, I don’t know but sounds like it should be. As a negative point with this one, I do wish that this day lotion had SPF in it. That would make it perfect. I’ve only tried one day lotion before (on purpose) that has sunscreen in it and vowed to always buy day lotions thereafter because they have SPF in (I thought that this was the diff between a day lotion and lotion lotion). I was wrong they don’t, but they should.

Next up is the Vitamin C Facial Wash which is quite possibly the biggest face wash I have ever seen or used. Two months later, I’m about a third of the way into it. I do like using it. A little goes a long way hence the reason I will be using this until my kids graduate university. I’m not necessarily talking about the product, I’m talking about this particular bottle, it’s huge!! It has a pleasant fragrance. I do think that it meets its claims of giving “clean, fresh and bright skin.” My little niggle with this product though are the micro beads. I don’t think they add anything to the wash. In fact, I would say they are redundant, however it does make it look interesting. The pink really pops against that vibrant aqua colour.

“Scrub Your Nose In It”. I love the names of these products and I do really like scrubbing my nose in it. It has really fine exfoliating particles that give you a good old scrub. It does seem odd that every time I see its pale green colour, I think of toothpaste though. You scrub it in and then leave it on for a couple of minutes before you wash it off. I think it sort of melts away because when you come to rinse it off, the scrubby particles seem less prominent. I have to admit that this scrub does scare me a little. Sounds ridiculous right. Well the instructions suggest that you should not only use a sunscreen while using this product but also for at least a week AFTER you stop.

What. Is. In. This?

Because that sounds like it must be fairly strong whatever it is. This is part of the reason why I wish there was SPF in the day lotion. The ingredient that makes this so lethal is AHA. And if you want to be scared even further, the AHA is acid which makes the warning to protect your skin make a bit more sense. I’ve used products that have glycolic or salicylic acid in before but not at levels where there is a polite warning to not go out into the sun and burn your face off. As it doesn’t specifically say how often you should use this I decided between 2 and 4 times a week because acid is no joke.
