Product Mash Ups (Pt.2)

Hopefully you’ve found yourself here from Part 1, if not, head on back! To recap, I like to mash up products that aren’t working for me. Or that I just want to get rid of but feel they need a little extra oomph from products I actually like. And that’s how I ended up mixing up these random things.

Like the Garnier Ultimate Blends Aloe Vera Hair Food I mixed with the Papaya one just because I needed an empty container about that size for my DIY Almond Butter Face Mask. I’ll be talking a bit more about that one soon.

I’m sure I’m not the only one that does this. I’m sure I’m not! Please tell me if you do this to, nobody likes to feel all alone? 😭 😂

Hask Monoi Coconut Oil Nourishing Deep Conditioner + Garnier Ultimate Blends Nourishing Hair Food Banana & Shea 3-In-1 Hair Mask (Dry Hair)

I hated this Hask mask, well I didn’t hate it, I don’t have any personal feelings towards hair care products but it was not the best for me. You might love it but it was a big fat no-no for me. Disappointingly so, since I had high hopes for my haul from the USA. Unfortunately, it travelled all that way for nothing. I was taking a bit of a gamble mixing it with the Garnier Hair Food as I hadn’t tried it yet at that point but it worked out well for me.

The mix was glorious, it was like the Hask mask wasn’t even there. I love the Hair Food so much that I’ve bought the Aloe Vera, Coconut and Papaya versions since and the Banana one a good few times more. When I compare how the Hask mask worked on it’s own and then mixed with the Hair Food, it was literally like night and day. And for me (and the kids), so far, the Hair Food has been like a bright sunny day.

Freederm Exfoliating Daily Wash + The Skin System Creamy Face Wash

I liked the Freederm Exfoliating Daily Wash but it’s a shoulder shrug sort of okay. The Skin System Creamy Face Wash was a big old no from me. It wasn’t creamy, it was kind of slimy. Maybe that’s a bit harsh but it definitely left my skin feeling weird and left a strange residue on my face. It wasn’t a pleasant experience at all. Mixing the two makes a floppy, putty, custard-y texture which sounds gross but it actually is a much preferable solution. It shouldn’t work, it looks like it shouldn’t work but I’m using this until the tub is finished. Because it kind of does work.

Boots Essentials Cucumber 3 Minute Clay Mask + Tea Tree & Witch Hazel Peel Off Face Mask

I look a little scared, apprehensive, worried here maybe. Well it’s none of that, the mask was drying my face into this sad expression! 🤣 You have to be careful because the wind might change or your mask might dry too hard and you’ll be stuck that way… forever!

The Clay Mask is supposed to be washed off after 3 minutes. The Peel Off Mask should be dry within about 10-15 minutes. This cocktail was like 80% dry after about 40 minutes. It was getting tight and my face was hurting so it seemed like a good time to wash it off.

I’d mixed both masks about 50/50 and hoped it would still peel but alas, that was not to be. I tried peeling it off and it was like I was picking at my skin so I changed to washing it off. Which didn’t work either but after 5 minutes of trying to get my face clean, I’d had a great facial massage. I used a microfibre cloth to finish off and Sod’s Law it came right off. I don’t think I’ll do this mix again but I might just add a dollop of the clay mask to the peel off in future because of all the benefits of clay.

So sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t but it’s all fun and games…until you irritate your face or your hair falls out.

Like I asked last time, I’m curious to know what products do you mash up, if any?

Let’s keep experimenting together!
