My Hair Routine: Taking Notes

I work in admin so I think my immediate reaction to things that are new and detailed is to take notes. I think my reaction to pretty much anything is to take notes. I used to have bits of paper all over the place. Then I got a bit more organised and would frantically scribble in notebooks and then scribble out what I had achieved, leading to pages of text you couldn’t read as I’d crossed it all out. Then I noticed the notes section in my phone and had all my notes categorised on there. But these days, I normally e-mail myself. I thought this must be an odd thing to do but as the email comes through as “Note To Self” it’s obviously a thing that a lot of people do. I am not alone. I have a shed load of Notes To Self. They’re also really useful when I get a new post idea and I don’t want to lose it. I just ping it off and deal with it later.

The pictures  in this post are of my paper notebook, I know its old school and a little wasteful but it’s the best thing for the job and that job is to remind me to do my hair. I know that I need to do my hair everyday, I just struggle to keep tabs of when to shampoo, prepoo, what I’ve done, what I plan to do etc. It’s a lot.

This has become my right hand when it comes to my routine. It’s a bit over the top but it keeps me on track, I don’t care how anal it looks. Well I do care but since I can’t actually hear you, it doesn’t matter. I’ve already made some changes as you may have read in my progress check post. And the notebook completely takes account of that.

Using this has helped me to keep on track and I would suggest to others, especially at the start when you are establishing the routine that you make a note of things, it will help. I even use those bath crayons, I don’t know if you’ve seen them, they let you write on tiles and then wash off (great for the kids at bathtime), to mark whether it is a conditioner week or a shampoo week with the kids. I think I’m just addicted to writing things down. Maybe that’s why I like doing my blog so much!

I think I have pretty much all hair treatments covered that you would commonly do to your hair but I’m sure the game will change at some point and everything I’ve been doing is wrong and I’ll have to start over but for now, cue Montell Jordan, “This Is How We Do It!”

Let’s keep growing together!
