End Of The Tube Review: Boots Tea Tree & Witch Hazel Peel Off Face Mask

Sunday nights have become my Face Mask Night and I really look forward to it. I’m not one to primp and pamper myself but I am learning as time goes by that I need to do more for me. When I will fit all this in? I don’t know, but its needed. Every Sunday I spread whatever on my face and relax because what else can I do? I certainly can’t do housework – that’s a no no. Pick up children – well they’re in bed. Change nappies -nope it’s break time from that. Write my blog – I’m too busy relaxing. It’s chill time! It’s time for the Boots Tea Tree and Witch Hazel Peel Off Face Mask.

I’ve actually used this over the last few years but it’s one of those things that I keep forgetting I own. A few years ago, I had one of my junkie splurges and bought about 5 because I was definitely going to use it regularly. Definitely. Maybe. Unlikely. So here I am a few years later and with my new sense of determination and a whole lot of face mask to use, here goes nothing!

So the important bit of the blurb –

“This Peel Off Face Mask contains antibacterial Tea Tree Oil and skin calming Witch Hazel to help keep your skin clear and healthy by:

  • Grabbing dirt and lifting it out of your pores
  • Helping to remove blackheads
  • Helping to tighten pores and prevent future breakouts”

Sounds good to me. What’s not to like? Do I want dirt free pores? Do I need help removing blackheads? Do I need tightened pores and prevention of future breakouts? Yes, yes, yes, of course I do.

What I have found is that if you layer this on and then walk around, you get this really pleasant cooling sensation washing over your face as the slightest breeze seems to set off the tea tree’s tingly-ness. It tightens as it dries and then it’s time for the peeling. That’s my favourite bit, it’s quite satisfying but can also be hard work. You need to use warm water to rinse off all the bits that you can’t peel off in one go. And if you tried to do it in one, you’d be wasting your life away, that is 3 hours you’re never getting back.

It takes about 15 minutes to dry if you don’t layer on too thick, however, the thicker the layer the easier to peel. But like most products the instructions can be a little hard to follow if you are following them to the letter. It suggests using a 1mm thick layer and I have no idea how you could achieve that. Time to get the ruler out! It also doesn’t say whether you put this on cleansed skin or not. I assume it needs to go on cleansed skin as a lot of masks I’ve tried say to do so.

I bought this for about £2.99 and I think it was worth it. You get maybe 10 uses from one tube, maybe more. I think I’ll pay more attention next time to see how much I’m using especially since I think it works quite well. I also probably won’t have the same tube open for almost 3 years while I pretend to be taking care of my skin. I’m not sure if it has actually been 3 years but…maybe it has! My face feels clean, refreshed and tighter after use. It’s no face lift but my skin definitely feels noticeably tighter the next day, so for maximum effect and eternally youthful skin I should be using this every other day for the rest of my life.

I’ve used this before and I will use it again, partly because I have loads to use up but mostly because I genuinely like it.

Let’s keep growing together!
