I’ve been battling the detangling demons with my kids for a while, specifically with my eldest. We’ve found our groove, moving from protective style to protective style. It’s been great. She’s even taking some responsibility for her hair. It seems that I’m clearly heavy handed because she brushes her hair just fine by herself. Not as thorough as me but she’s only 8. HOWEVER…

Detangling: Something That Works?

A little while, like 8 months ago, so not that little, I was planning on starting a seriesĀ on detangling. I was particularly exasperated at the time with all 3 kids hair. If it wasn’t for the crying and childhood trauma it would likely cause, I’d do to theirs what I did to mine. In a heartbeat. Shave it all off! But maybe I’ve found something that works?

Her Curls

Apparently if you braid or plait your hair and it curls like this at the ends, it means it’s healthy. I’ve been snipping away at her ends a little bit every time I’ve braided them over the last few weeks and this week I styled her hair and the end of every plait curled perfectly. Scissors go bye-bye for a few more weeks now. It was definitely a very satisfying moment for me. I suppose I must be doing something right!
