When I was about 17 or 18, I said to myself, “when I turn 30, I’m going to start buying Oil of Ulay, so I stay looking young.” I will always remember it as Ulay, you will not sway me. I thought that thirty would be a good time to start caring about how old my skin looked. Because when you’re 18, 30 seems old. When I actually turned 30, I did not do this.
Hopefully you’ve found yourself here from Part 1, if not, head on back! To recap, I like to mash up products that aren’t working for me. Or that I just want to get rid of but feel they need a little extra oomph from products I actually like. And that’s how I ended up mixing up these random things.
What is a product mashup? I hear you ask. Well, it’s what happens when I get bored. Basically when I don’t like a product, I won’t throw it away because I am my father’s daughter. I don’t know if it’s a Nigerian thing, a Dad thing or just how he is but he keeps everything. Broken things, things we don’t need, things we don’t want. Let me say it again for the people in the back hiding themselves, a spot is not the end of your world. We all get them. We all hate them. But it’s a part of life.
I wasn’t in the market for more skin care products or any products at all. I’m a product junkie and I’ve pretty much filled my shelf in the bathroom. And spilled onto the other shelf. And in another cupboard too. Not to mention the products that are out because I’m actually using them. They are everywhere, down the side of the sofa, on windowsills, even in the fridge.
