Wash Day Notes: Wash And Go?

I’ve been battling the detangling demons with my kids for a while, specifically with my eldest. We’ve found our groove, moving from protective style to protective style. It’s been great. She’s even taking some responsibility for her hair. It seems that I’m clearly heavy handed because she brushes her hair just fine by herself. Not as thorough as me but she’s only 8. HOWEVER…

Snip, Snip, Snip: Why Trimming Is Fundamental

Trimming. I didn’t want to do it. I really didn’t want to do it. I even went on a forum asking if my “symptoms” meant I actually needed to trim. I knew they did, I just didn’t want to admit it. I DID NOT WANT TO TRIM MY HAIR. Especially since the fro was looking frolicious at my last length check.

End Of The Bottle Review: Carol’s Daughter Hair Milk Cleansing Conditioner

One of the things I told myself when I started this blog and shaved all my hair off was to not to be afraid to use different products, to trial as much as I could and feed my curiosity. It’s a good thing that I enjoy it so much as I’m always excited to try something new and see how my hair or my kid’s hair reacts. The first use of this was a bit of a disaster. I put my littlest baby in the bath, opened the conditioner ready to go and put it on the radiator while the…

Her Curls

Apparently if you braid or plait your hair and it curls like this at the ends, it means it’s healthy. I’ve been snipping away at her ends a little bit every time I’ve braided them over the last few weeks and this week I styled her hair and the end of every plait curled perfectly. Scissors go bye-bye for a few more weeks now. It was definitely a very satisfying moment for me. I suppose I must be doing something right! I love her hair, I love the way it curls, I love the colour, the feel, everything. I’ve got…

Spritz Me Baby One More Time

I’ve been looking for an easy and effective leave-in spray for myself and the kids. Plus I am really into the idea of making as many of my own products for my hair as possible. I wasn’t sure how to start so I went to my favourite place after Google…Pinterest. I had a picture of a leave-in spray saved on one of my boards and as I had all the ingredients in my cupboard, there was no reason not to try it. It says that it is a great recipe to keep curls defined overnight which obviously isn’t an issue…

Apple Cider Vinegar Stinks!

It really does! I had  read a few articles about ACV (another abbreviation to learn). I read about how great it is at cleansing your hair of product buildup. Also in reducing frizz (not a massive problem when you’ve less than an inch of hair) and adding shine. Some even use this exclusively to wash their hair when they feel the buildup is too much. There was excitement to try it and add to my regimen. Then I opened the bottle and was horrified that anyone expected me to put that in my hair. “The smell goes away,” they say.…

You Can Learn Almost Everything From Pinterest

I had long blue extensions on the day I got married. I used the full pack of Kanekalon extensions without cutting them so they pretty much touched my bum. That’s what I want my actual hair to be like. I know this journey to tailbone length will be difficult but I really want it! It almost feels silly saying it aloud but I really, really want my own long hair (which I will probably turn blue at some point, weakening and destroying all my hard work blah, blah, blah…but I want it!) In the preparation to start my journey I…

Hello 2017

I don’t hate everything! I just really like this shirt my sister got me for Christmas and wanted to share. I actually think 2017 will be a good year personally and I hope the global mess that was 2016 will start to resolve itself, I’m not naming any names but it might rhyme with frump and grexit… Nearing the end of 2016 I decided to make some changes in my life. Not massive changes like quitting my job to go travelling and be a free spirit but fairly big ones like shaving all my hair off and starting a blog.…
